Third Generation

With the exception of the estimated dates of birth, the records on this page a factual and widely accepted as proven.  What isn't proven is Dennis Kelly is William Kelley of Mecklenburg VA.  It also is not proven that Owen immigrated to America and fought in our revolution, nor is it proven that the below James is Rev James O'Kelly the founder of the Christian.  a pending DNA test DUE about April 2012 should answser these questions.

10. William Kelly of Buckfield was born about 1705 in Ireland.

Reddis Kelly1,2 was born about 1705 in Co Roscommon Ireland.
Reddis Kelley was the granddaughter of Lt Col John Kelley of Clonlyon who was the brother of Col Charles O'Kelley. Lt Col John Kelley and Col Charles Kelley descended from Colla O'Kelley who in 1601 accepted Queen Elizabeth's request to drop the O from his family name and raise his descendants as English and in the protestant faith.

William Kelly of Buckfield and Reddis Kelley had the following children:

+14

i.

Edmond Kelly of Buckfield.

15

ii.

John Kelly of Strokestown1,2 was born (date unknown).

+16

iii.

(William) Denis Kelly.  May be my ancestor who settled in Virginia

17

iv.

Owen Kelly1,2 may have been the Owen Kelly who served in the military Col Greyson's Reg in 1777 in Virginia Colony. Owen was not a common name in the Kelly family but because a Owen Kelly from Virginia served in Col Grayson's Reg, it maybe that Owen came to Virginia either at the same time with William or maybe later with William preparing the way. William had a son named Charles who named his first born son William O and the O may have been for Owen as William O Kelley had a grandson named William Owen Kelley likely after his grandfather who was named so after his grand uncle Owen Kelly..

18

v.

Anthony Kelly1,2 is a confirmed descendant of the O'Kellys of Aughrim.
